Hey guys, just waiting on those final drawings and renders. Alternatively i can send you the templates as i've already done them and you can slap the things on. however, i definately need cad drawings for the envirnomental poster!
Otherwise, we'll have to do it tomorrow, and i'd rather finish tonight.
Take it easy.

let's be naughty
Hey guys, is anyone planning on attending the history lecture tomorrow morning? I don't think i will so will be free from 9am onwards. will need to be at the tute though so that ursula can purposely ask me questions because she knew i wasn't at the lecture and embarrass me.
model
one thing guys!!! i dun mind the stairs the way jason did them if we are all happy with them personally i dunt but its not just about me!!! but the back i really dunt like it n im not happy going ahead with it!!! c jason u said that no one gave u imput so u went with it!!! we came up with an idea on friday but we didnt go ahead with it because it wouldve been really rude to exclude u out! but then u went away and excluded 3of the group members and did something without even taking pplz opinion n now u say its very late we have to go with it(that just doesnt work). have u considered that the walls of the bedrooms are gonna where the exit to the platforms are? so i just need to know whats happening coz i need to glue the model!
I'm an idiot
Sad but true...
after sleeping the tank disaster over i realised that
24m3 is 24000 litres... so the issues becomes a bit smaller.
Am i right?
i had an idea of putting another tank below the passage (possibly instead of the passage) that will give us extra 300 liters... what do you reckon?

Hey Ray,
maybe i'm just a bad graphic designer, but it seems as though the background is too busy, even after i fade it out quite a lot. Once i start putting my content on it, it looks a bit much. Especially drawings. What have you found? Can you send me the other temp, you know the one with the 'DOMUS' thing i wrote on it? tbui@deakin.edu.au
Thanks for that,
Trish
ps. how's the model looking?

The renders
Sure, I'll wip up the renders soon. I just need to know what the bathrooms look like. About the louvres... we've had 1 1/2 weeks to change our mind about them so I have to move on, sorry. Sorry I didn't come to the meeting yesterday but I was told you were just doing the model and as I am doing the render, I didn't have to be there. Is the model done?
Hi Jason!
We discussed with guys what renders we need.
We need
And personaly, i think the back platforms don't work. Trish and Ray came up with the idea that i quite like. We planned to discuss it once we meet on Wendsday. It's a pity you couldn't come today.

We need
- interior view on entry
- view from the living looking out to the corridor to the view
- view inside the bedrooms
- view thru the living on the deck and nature (we photoshop the nature in)
- view inside the toilet
- view of the sunlight coming thru louvers

is this right? It seems too much
Activity | Average litres per person per day | Usage per day of full house (L) (6 people) |
Showering | 30 | 180 |
Toilet | 10 | 40 |
Consumption | 2 | 12 |
Washing/cleaning | 5 | 30 |
Laundry | 6.5 (45 litres per wash, once a week) | 6.5 |
Total Usage (L) | 53.5 | 268.5 |
hey just some reminders from today's meeting
1. ray, can you please get back to us on that font?
2. Lena, what is the volume of the tanks combined?
And 3. what background theme are we deciding on? Are the posters going to be different colours? And i've forgotten the rest.
Good work today boys and girls.

progress

Then, you might be able to see, I put a frame inside the louvres with fly screen set in the structural frame in wood. (bad coloured screen though, I changed it after this render so it is much lighter and pale green.)

I also tried out a back section. I put little thought into the actual flooring section but i really like that you come around the end wall. This would effectively make you turn the corner and look around the site instead of having you walk straight out and just look straight ahead. It creates nice lighting too. The inside shot is just to show you the glass wall and how it slides away.
Meeting
trish how do u feel about meeting tomo at bout 10 at lenaz if it kool with her? or we can actually meet in the library of RMIT which is also really gud!!!!! so just let me noe plz!!!! i dun hav ur nb to call u !!!!n jason if u can come to even just for a little bit so we can c how the progress is going!! plus i was doing the u beams n there is no way i can make them Ubeams coz too small!!!!

temp
Hmmm
Is everyone aware that were about to put a large glass strip around the top of the house between the screens/louvres and the roof? Some of the panels will be around two meters high. If we do this, air circulation will be extremely limited, hot air will be trapped in the ceiling area and excessive light will come in.
What should we do?
What should we do?

hey raymond!
Have you finished the background for the presentation so i can start doing the posters? Guess what boys and girls, my computer crashed last night - AGAIN. luckily i just recently backed up my computer. It's AutoCAD corrupting I'm sure. oh no!
Thanks for that,
Trish

the tilting roof

hey jason can u please try this idea for the folding roof when ur doing it in microstation we were thinking about it in studio n we thought that if u fold it down all the way to the other side u kinda merge the inside n outside n u kinda have a visual balance between the two but u also diffrientiate between inside and out side by having the louvers in the right and nothing on the top on the left so u have a nice balance. so just wanted to know what you think! its mainly exaclty what we discussed when u were there but shifted a bit more to the left!!! this is a sketch of just let me know if u can read what im trying to say!!! so like we discussed the top roof would extand and the one on the left would retract back but the only diffrence is that the fold is much more to the left

What is going on guys?!
So... within the last few hours most of our design concepts that we decided over the last 6 weeks have gone out the window? The roof in the bedroom hallway that emphasised deliverance from one end of the building to the other isn't raised at the important end any more? The front rooms just disappeared? The floor levels just changed? The louvres don't go to the roof? The materials at either end of the building weren't decided last week? If none of our decisions stand, what do we draw? I've seen four different roof designs in the last day when I thought they were decided last week?
Who is making all these changes and decisions?
Who is making all these changes and decisions?
Our option?!
Thanks for the micro station file Ray. I'm not sure what to do with it but I'll try and take everyone's opinions into account and do something. Then, when we have our next meeting we can hopefully finalise most stuff.
My option :)

Hey we it's just my option that's it. I decided to get rid of front space cause i don't know how to use it... There are 5 roofs actually... the one over the sleeping block is similar to Ray's but the section in the middle is separated and folds on the east elevation forming the doorway. The one in front are to separate sloping roofs with a skylight to the living space. I'll build a sketch up of it.
Another change that I've made is the passage way is now elevated one step over all the other spaces.
I'm thinking how to treat bathrooms... I'll show it as soon as i come up with smth decent
I'm very happy that you like it Ray :)
lena s cadz
hey lena i love the front i didnt know how to make it work with mine but i was imagining it would look something like u did it! n the roof is really good i dont know if i saw it right but is there two roofs? sorry i couldnt read it clearly neways i like it its very similar to mine! neways my problem is ive got no idea how to transform it to 3d i noe u ve already put it in micro but still im clueless at this point forgive me everyone!
The front rrom.
Are we not having a front room/office now? I think we're all still on a different page.

hey guys trish i think u understood it abit wrong sorry in the model i turned off the walls thats why u saw decking where its actually the rooms but if we all want deacking around them we can always change it now its really easy after jason did the original sorta micro model all we need to do is alter stuff! this is a way we can do our renders in black and white while showing materials have a look and tell me what u think bare in mind there are still walls missing ok so its not finished coz i dun wanna put too much work into because we havnt met to discuss it yet!
Hey ray, trying to read your microstation model and i think i like what i think i can see! lol. Instead of having the sleeping quarter's axis and the living quarter's axis aligned, you've actually shifted it have you? This seems to allow some decking to come all along the outside of the guest rooms ( i think we should have this) and on the other side, allows a view down the side of the building when standing inside the workspace/kitchen area.
Am i right? This could work...and break up the monotony of the facade.

my version

lena thanks for the CAD drawings but i think the roof is not working!!!! ive got something im working on in microstation ill show u !!!!
n jason the wall of louvers only looks like that in an elevation done with Cad once u see it in 3d and with materials it actually is pretty interresting plus simple is never a bad thing !!!! but have a look at my roof n tell me what u guys think!
remember these pics are just to show u the roof so nothing else ok!!!!
the final product will look diffrent!
hmmm
I'm sorry but the straight louvre/wall line is really not appealing, it's really 'simple'. The elevations are the most boring I've seen in a long time. No offense... they're just boring.
...sorry i forgot... if you want CAD file i need you user name to send it to you. I'll send it tomorrow morning cause i want to finish to other elevations.
I think we need to assess our design, i think we have lots good bits and pieces but it doesn't work together so far...
I believe our design is a bit like the desert group one that we are clients for. We use right tools but not to our best advantage.

Hi!
Thanks HEAPS for the communication Ray, it's good to know what's going on. Sorry again about leaving early. I agreee with the roof issue, I think we were closer to a resolution that week when we were using the cardboard for a roof model... with separate wings etc. As far as changing the grid... I think it should stay in a grid but just alter the amount of bedrooms. We're doing really well so far, we just need to 'tweek' a few things while we're moving forward. If at any time any of you need a break from microstation just call me, email the file you're working on over to me at jagec@hotmail.com and I'll pick it up where you left off. Otherwise, I'll attempt to start working on a template... or physical model. I'd prefer to work on the model though, I love doing models.
Keep in touch everyone, it's important. Later!

Hi!
That is what I've done so far. The other two elevations I'll upload soonish.
The roof is my own hallucinations... it will be more readable after i finish the other elevations.
Line thickness i haven't done yet.
Scale 1:100, A2 size.
2 Ray,
Richard also said that to run services thru the structure is not a good idea at all (maintenance). So i drafted them as U columns... But we need to think about columns, piping and wiring now...
The other issues that i see is the level of passage way and other spaces. I reckon there definitely should be level changes but we need to consider them in elevation since our walls are transparent... if we step it like we designed it will disrupt the south elevation... no good i reckon.
The other concern is strange front space the more i look at it the more i agree with Trish it is pointless and we need to do smth. (I'll upload my option a bit later).
I'd love to see how you would resolve these and other issues.
